The story
Brothers John and Horace Dodge built engines and parts for other makers before putting their own name on cars, from 1914. Their cars had a reputation for toughness, and the open four-door tourer with a folding hood was one of the most common body styles of the period.
This one is blue, with black wings and running boards, light wooden-spoke wheels and a black fabric hood with a row of small pointed windows at the back. The photos in the book show it finished, outdoors, from every side.
The restoration step by step
A tourer from every side
- Step 1 of 2
Sides and wooden wheels
The long, low line of the tourer, with four doors, coachlines on the doors and running boards along the sides. The wooden-spoke wheels are left natural, with black tyres.
- Step 2 of 2
Nose, hood and tail
At the front, the tall radiator with the Dodge Brothers badge and the two big headlamps; at the back, the spare wheel and the hood with its row of pointed windows.
